Staff meet people in all sorts of places, and personally join them, as wellness coaches, as they try out new ideas and pathways to health and well-being. In this way, the Recovery Center is not a physical location, but rather a center “without walls,” helping people implement their own personal goals.

Recovery Center staff guide people to learn new mental health self-management skills, improve their social lives and community engagement, develop new personal or creative interests, improve their physical health, develop independent living skills, become better advocates for themselves, and connect with employment resources. DSS Coordinated Children’s Services

Coordinated Children's Services (CCS) is a program unique to Ulster County. It is a cooperative effort between the Departments of Social Services, Probation, Mental Health and the Youth Bureau which provides intensive community-based services to meet the needs of families with at least one child whose behavior disturbance places him or her at risk of placement in a residential treatment center.

Services in CCS are directed toward augmenting parenting skills, improving mental health symptoms, reducing self-destructive harmful and delinquent behavior, ameliorating neglect and abuse situations, promoting academic and pro-social functioning and strengthening family units. Mental Health Services are cost-free and can include psychiatry and psychological testing. The mission is preservation of families, whenever possible. Visit their website.

Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center

Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center (RCPC) is a psychiatric hospital exclusively for children and adolescents. It is operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health and serves children from the Hudson Valley Region. In addition to it's inpatient facility, RCPC has a wide variety of outpatient services including: school-based aftercare programs, day treatment programs, and clinics. These programs are fully integrated with the inpatient service, enabling RCPC to provide a full continuum of care to the children it serves.

The Facility provides an intensive, short-term, family-based inpatient psychiatric treatment program. This enables children to return to their families with a minimum of disruption to the child's ties to home and community. A rapid return from the hospital to the community facilitates the resumption of the child's developmental progress which was interrupted by the onset of difficulties that necessitated hospitalization. At RCPC, treatment focuses primarily upon issues that have led to admission and continued stay in the hospital. Thus, all children require continued treatment upon discharge. RCPC works with families to make available appropriate treatment for the post discharge phase of the treatment program. All discharged children are followed up by the hospital after discharge, and families are encouraged to contact staff immediately with any problems that may develop after discharge. The inpatient treatment program is regarded as simply one phase, although a critical one, in an ongoing treatment process. Visit their website.
