MHA in Ulster County offers a free grief and loss support group for those who have lost someone. This group offers a safe, confidential and supportive environment to learn healthy coping skills, allowing those processing their grief to remain healthy during the healing process. This group meets Thursdays from 2:00pm-3:00pm, in person.

Jewish Family Services Of Ulster County Bereavement Groups

Children’s Bereavement Support Group
Sponsored by Hudson Valley Hospice, this group is for school-age children who have lost family members and are experiencing normal grief. This group is designed to help children address the tasks of grief in a supportive, therapeutic setting with other children who share their experience. They do this by participating in age-appropriate activities including music, movement, games, arts and crafts, writing, and grief education through literature and storytelling. Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group
These peer led groups sponsored by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention provide a safe space where survivors of suicide loss can share their experiences and support each other. Some survivors attend a support group immediately, some wait for years, others attend for a year or two and then go only occasionally – on anniversaries, holidays, or particularly difficult days.

Grasp was founded to help provide sources of help, compassion and most of all, understanding for families or individuals who have had a loved one die as a result of a substance abuse or addiction. Hudson Valley Hospice Support Groups
At Hudson Valley Hospice, we understand the impact grief can have on family, friends, colleagues, and community. We are here to help. Hudson Valley Hospice is a well-respected regional resource for grief support and bereavement services. We serve families in our area and educate the community as a whole. Through individual counseling, telephone support, workshops and support groups, we can help you understand and manage the grieving process.

Death Cafe
circle of friends for the dying
Circle of Friends for the Dying invites you to come together and talk about death. While in a relaxed safe environment increase your awareness of attitudes about dying and death with a view towards living the best life possible. Death Cafe is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. Circle of Friends for the Dying’s mission is to increase awareness of death in order to help people make the most of their finite lives. There is no charge to attend, registration is not required, and all are welcome. Prior to COVID-19, Death Cafe would meet monthly in various locations throughout Ulster County, but now the group meets virtually on Zoom. Roula's Kids: A Space for Grieving Families, Inc.
Roula's Kids is a non-profit created to offer no-cost grief groups for families that have experienced the death of someone significant in their lives. We are currently offering three children's bereavement groups separated by age as well as a group for caregivers:
Littles - ages 6-9 years old
Middles - ages 10-12 years old
Teens - ages 13-18 years old
Caregiver group for those raising children affected by the death of someone significant in their lives.
These groups meet in person in Kingston, NY, and are facilitated by seasoned clinicians with specialties in grief. Through the use of age-appropriate activities such as movement, play and art, these groups foster connection and support for children experiencing the death of someone important in their lives.
