Children’s Bereavement Support Group
Sponsored by Hudson Valley Hospice, this group is for school-age children who have lost family members and are experiencing normal grief. This group is designed to help children address the tasks of grief in a supportive, therapeutic setting with other children who share their experiences. They do this by participating in age-appropriate activities including music, movement, games, arts and crafts, writing, and grief education through literature and storytelling. This group offers a safe, confidential, and supportive environment to learn healthy coping skills, allowing those processing their grief to remain healthy during the healing process. The Bereaved Parents of the USA has a Mid-Hudson Chapter. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Roula's Kids: A Space for Grieving Families, Inc.
Roula's Kids is a non-profit created to offer no-cost grief groups for families that have experienced the death of someone significant in their lives. We are currently offering three children's bereavement groups separated by age as well as a group for caregivers:
Littles - ages 6-9 years old
Middles - ages 10-12 years old
Teens - ages 13-18 years old
Caregiver group for those raising children affected by the death of someone significant in their lives.
These groups meet in person in Kingston, NY, and are facilitated by seasoned clinicians with specialties in grief. Through the use of age-appropriate activities such as movement, play and art, these groups foster connection and support for children experiencing the death of someone important in their lives. Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group
These peer-led groups sponsored by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention provide a safe space where survivors of suicide loss can share their experiences and support each other. Some survivors attend a support group immediately, some wait for years, others attend for a year or two and then go only occasionally – on anniversaries, holidays, or particularly difficult days.
