SNAP-Ed educates resourced-limited communities around the Hudson Valley on healthy eating, physical activity, and food budgeting.
Group workshops are available as stand-alone sessions or a series of up to 6 lessons.
SNAP-Ed can travel around the county to provide education at a community location.

Expanded Food & Nutrition Education

Program (EFNEP)

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) utilizes evidence-based resources and has been proven to help families with limited income make healthier nutrition and lifestyle choices. Topics include stretching food dollars, food safety, reducing salt and sugar intake, and making simple, healthy meals for the family. New recipes and ways to incorporate physical fitness into daily routines are included in every class. The program offers a series of 6-8 virtual, interactive lessons to resource-limited families and youth free of charge.

YMCA of Kingston & Ulster County

The YMCA Kingston and Ulster County is a private not-for-profit, community-based organization providing social, health, physical education and recreation services to the residents of Ulster County.

YMCA programs includes school-age child care, health enhancement / fitness classes, summer camps, swim lessons for all ages, special scholarship programs for low-income youth and families & physical rehabilitation programs. The YMCA serves all groups from infants to seniors.

The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) promotes local producers by expanding their sales at farmers’ markets and farm stands and fosters healthy communities through the consumption of locally grown foods. Consumers who are eligible are provided with coupons to use for fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets, farm stands, and mobile markets in New York State. If you are a low-income older adult (aged 60 years or older) or individual enrolled in WIC, living in New York State, you may be eligible to receive coupons. Contact the Office of the Aging or Veteran Services Agency for more information.
