Developmental Disabilities Programs & Services:

Developmental Disabilities Regional Office – Region 3 (DDRO)

New York State has five Developmental Disabilities Regional Offices, or DDROs. They are the starting point for applying for services for individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting with eligibility, intake, waiver enrollment, local management of Individual and Community Supports (ICS), management of resources for crisis intervention, advocacy, service recruitment for family care, and supports for aging individuals with developmental disabilities.

Developmental Disabilities State Operations Office – Region 4 (DDSOO)

New York State has six Developmental Disabilities State Operations Offices, or SSDOOs). They administer and oversee state operations for the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), including the direct delivery of services and supports to people with developmental disabilities by state staff.

Resource Center for Accessible Living (RCAL)
Resource Center for Accessible Living, Inc. (RCAL) is a non-profit, community based service and advocacy organization run by and for people with any type of disability. Since 1983, RCAL has been dedicated to assisting and empowering individuals, of all ages, to live independently and participate in all aspects of community life. RCAL, as an Independent Living Center, has a long tradition of consumer controlled and directed service delivery. It is RCAL’s philosophy that people with disabilities can and should make their own choices and decisions, and take control of all issues that affect their daily lives – education, employment, housing, health care, recreation etc.

Children with Special Health Care Needs/Physically Handicapped Children’s Program
Children with Special Health Care Needs Program (CWSHCN) is an information and referral service designed to assist the families of physically challenged or chronically ill children 0-21 years of age. The function of CWSHCN is to: Provide care coordination, link families to community based agencies and/or service providers, families without health insurance will be referred to the Child Health Plus and/or Family Health Plus. The function of the Physically Handicapped Children’s Program (PHCP) is to: assist families in obtaining services offered by the PHCP, referrals for free initial Diagnostic or Clinical Evaluations, UCDOH will refer to providers for Orthopedic Equipment, Hearing Aids and Medication. Interested families must meet Income Resource Eligibility Guidelines and must be residents of Ulster County.

Center for Spectrum Services
The Center for Spectrum Services is a nationally recognized, New York State approved, not-for-profit program serving the needs of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders and the community that support them. Our agency is a respected leader in the best practices and has a history of excellence that spans more than three decades. Programs offered for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders include: Education Programs and Schools for children ages 3-12 in Kingston and Ellenville, Community Based Services for children under age five, a Spectrum Services Clinic that offers diagnostic evaluations to identify Autism Spectrum Disorders in people of all ages. All care is provided by New York State Certified expert practicioners.School referrals are accepted from public schools and counties in the Hudson Valley.
