Legal Services of the Hudson Valley
Legal help for qualified low-income families, individuals, and children. Program goals are to help victims and survivors of abuse, prevent families from becoming homeless, pursue access to education and other services for children and adults with disabilities, and assure rightful benefits for recently unemployed individuals. Legal Services of the HUdson Valley provides free legal representation in the following areas: housing, elder law, protection and advocacy for the disabled and the developmentally diabled, public benefits, social security and SSI disability claims, children’s advocacy, HIV/AIDS discrimination, domestic violence, and community support services for individuals with mental illnesses, as well as technical assistance to lawyers.
NYS Mental Hygiene Legal Services
Representation, advocating, and litigating on behalf of individuals receiving services for mental disabilities who are under the care of state operated or licensed facilities. This agency represents individuals for whol Article 81 Guardianship is being sought, Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Petitions, hospital retention, hospital seeking Medication Over Objection and advocacy to sex offenders with mental disabilities.

Veteran Justice Outreach Coordination
If you are a Veteran who has been accused of a crime, you may be eligible to receive support and services from this program, which is designed to assist Veterans of all eras. Additional program goals include to work with local authorities, to provide education to courts about Veterans’ issues, to provide training to police on Veteran needs, and to arrange services for incarcerated Veterans.
Free Legal Clinic
The Caring Hands Soup Kitchen in the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church offers a free legal clinic focusing on the needs of families facing eviction, lost jobs and homelessness, in addition to supporting individuals who are needy, elderly, and/or disabled, receiving social services assistance.
